THE CROSS-CULTURAL TRANSLATOR
Navigating the space between cultures.
As a child of mixed parentage (British-Australian dad & Malaysian mom), I grew up straddling the Eastern and Western worlds. My life’s journey has been bridging between these perspectives – raised in Malaysia and shaped my university years in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Being rooted in two different perspectives made me a natural observer—I began questioning the concept of identity and human behavior from a very young age.
I was always curious: Why do we do what we do? How does our culture shape our potential?
My life’s goal is to use that curiosity to create a positive impact, translating my understanding of human behaviour into a force that lifts every individual to their full potential.
That early curiosity about the human mind became the foundation for everything I do today.
THE STRATEGIST
Why I left the corporate ladder for mental health.
People often ask me how I went from climbing the corporate ladder to mental health. The truth is, it wasn’t a calculated career move. It was a wake-up call.
I started my career at Sime Darby, Malaysia’s largest conglomerate (at that time). I was good at the corporate game—rising to manager in just four years. But the relentless focus on profit and the ego-driven office politics left me drained. I knew I had to leave, but I didn’t know what was next. I felt entirely lost.
Then, life hit hard. My late father, who lived with bipolar disorder, suffered a severe manic relapse. Overnight, I became a caregiver.
Around that same time, I lost a friend to suicide. The guilt of “I should have done more” was heavy, but it brought absolute clarity.
I realized my purpose wasn’t in maximizing corporate profits. It was in mental health.
THE PRACTITIONER
Bridging strategy to human resilience.
When I pivoted into mental health, I brought my corporate toolkit with me. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce & Engineering from UNSW Sydney, and I’m trained in Lean Six Sigma.
I use those analytical frameworks, combined with my MSc in Psychology from Cardiff University, to build mental health systems that actually work in high-stakes environments.
As the Director of Consultancy & Training at Thrive Well and a consultant for the Selangor State Government’s Mental Health programme (SEHAT), I focus on evidence-based care.
I am an HRDC certified trainer, equipped with Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) and Psychological First Aid. I help organizations build psychologically safe spaces without losing their operational edge.
THE EXPLORER
A global lens on local challenges.
Resilience looks different depending on where you stand. To understand how humans heal, I’ve travelled to over 40 countries, studying and working at the intersection of mental health & community resilience.
From working at the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) with elderly mental health patients, to special needs children at a Trauma-Informed Schools in Wales, to working with the disabled at the Assistive Technology Resources Centers in Hawaii, USA as a YSEALI Professional Fellow – I’ve seen the universal nature of struggle and strength.
I gather global insights to solve local challenges.
THE STORYTELLER
Connecting the dots.
Long before I was a strategist, I was a storyteller. Whether I was writing marketing copy in Barcelona or acting as the Vice Curator for Humans of KL, I’ve always believed that stories are the fastest way to bridge the gap between people.
I use narrative to make complex psychological concepts accessible to everyone.
THE PARTNER
Let’s do the work, together.
True resilience isn’t a solo endeavor, it’s a collective infrastructure.
My work is dedicated to the leaders, organizations, and individuals who are ready to move past “surface-level wellness” and build systems that thrive under pressure.
How we can work together:
Strategy & Consulting: Designing workplace mental health programs using robust psychological and corporate frameworks.
